2023 State & Local Regulatory Update

Abstract:
Jack will provide a legislative and regulatory update covering issues in Sacramento and San Diego, the move toward environmental justice in local and State Policies, hot topics from the recent IEA Environmental Conference on June 1-2 and challenges ahead for the regulated community.
Speaker Information:
As CEO of IEA, Mr. Monger represents approximately 55 regional manufacturing companies with over 55,000 employees. IEA promotes responsible, cost-effective environmental laws and regulations, and facilitates environmental compliance among members. IEA has the unique mission of promoting industry and protecting the environment.
Prior to joining the IEA, Jack Monger worked as a lobbyist and government / public relations professional in San Diego for 23 years. Mr. Monger’s clients included companies and organizations in the fields of healthcare, real estate development, airport and maritime operations, travel and tourism, and the U. S. Navy. Mr. Monger played a role in some of San Diego’s most controversial public policy issues such as San Diego’s switch to the Strong Mayor form of government, the development of Petco Park, and the establishment of the region’s clean syringe exchange program.
Mr. Monger is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served on active duty for six years. Subsequent positions included:
- Sales engineer – Honeywell, Inc.
- Staff Representative – San Diego City Council
- Executive Director – City of Hope San Diego Regional Office
- Executive Director – San Diego Hall of Champions Sports Museum
- Vice Pres., Business and Community Relations – The Corky McMillin Companies
Jack is a past-President of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association and has served as a Board member for several organizations, including the San Diego Port Tenants Association, Community Health Improvement Partners, the East Village Association, and Ocean Connectors.
Mr. Monger resides in Coronado with his wife, Darby, where they raised their three daughters.

$45 for members, $55 for non-members. Sign up by Friday, July 7 and save $5 on registration! Walk-ins with no reservation will be charged an extra $10 and be asked to wait until those with reservations are seated.
