  • Tuesday, June 12, 2012
  • 12:00 PM - 12:59 PM
  • Rock Bottom Brewery - La Jolla

Registration

Speaker:

John Reaves, co-founder of the Land Use and Environmental Mediation Group, a division of National Conflict Resolution Center

Topic:

Saving Money and Finding Creative Solutions to Complex Environmental Issues Through Mediation

Cost:

$30 for members, $35 for non-members. Online registration will end at 5 pm on the Monday before the event. Walk-ins will be charged an additional $10.

Abstract:

Environmental disputes are typically costly and often involve claims that others are responsible for in some fashion. Land use disputes and siting challenges can be prolonged and derail projects. Also, rulemaking efforts by governmental agencies may be blind to real challenges facing industry.

Public facilitation and mediation can produce dramatic differences but are often not considered in the environmental arena or are utilized after losses have grown substantially.

Learn how to help clients save resources in time and money by focusing early on how to find commonalities, coordinate efforts, and minimize differences through the help of a neutral mediator. The end result is the client may have more time and resources to devote to his or her desired goals.
